Mena Alexandra Suvari, born on February 13, 1979 in America, is an actress, fashion designer and a model. She started her modeling career in 1990 and soon moved into acting, after guest appearances on television series like Boy Meets World or High Incident. The actress made her debut in film in the 1997 dramatic film Nowhere. The performances she made on the film American Beauty, for which she was awarded an BAFTA Award nomination and American Pie brought her to broader public attention. Since then she appeared in Loser (2000) along with her American Pie co-star Jason Biggs and then played the principal character in the comedy Sugar & Spice (2001). She also was a part in Spun the drama that was made by an independent studio and in 2004's thriller Trauma. The actress was a part of HBO's drama series Six Feet Under. In 2004 she was nominated as an Outstanding Cast member in the Screen Actors Guild Awards. The filmography she starred in was Day of the Dead The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, the adaptation of The Garden of Eden and numerous other films. Suvari appeared on various fashion websites and in various magazines like Vogue and Lancome Paris Adaptive print ads. Suvari has been a loyal supporter and activist for the renowned African relief organisation, The African Medical and Research Foundation. She is also involved in issues of female empowerment and has been involved in causes that are related to breast cancer as well as the End Violence Against Women campaign.
